Candidate Comparison

"Every time the Republicans pick someone to take on Mary Landrieu, they pick someone who is not a whole lot different from Mary Landrieu."  Erick Erickson, at the RedState Gathering in New Orleans, LA.

Bill Cassidy is Mary Landrieu with an 'R' next to his name. Louisiana deserves better than the same old Establishment Washington Insiders representing them in the U.S. Senate. Rob Maness is the contrast candidate and the only Constitutional Conservative in the race. See for yourself below.

Spending Voted Yes on $192 B additional stimulus spending. Voted Yes on $192 B additional stimulus spending. Rob believes the federal government has a spending problem - not a revenue problem. The more government taxes the more it spends. Rob opposes tax increases.
2nd Amendment Senator Landrieu voted against an amendment that would have prevented the U.S. from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. Landrieu also voted for the Toomey-Manchin gun control bill which would've put intrusive universal background checks on gun purchases. Wants extensive background checks and wants to end person to person gun sales or 'straw purchases' as he calls them. The right to keep and bear arms predates our Constitution and was considered so important that our Founding Fathers listed it second, right after religious freedom and freedom of speech. The 2nd Amendment is the right that ensures all others, and therefore must be protected at all costs.

Coastal Restoration Mary continues to vote for broken solutions to restore our coast. She supports the Army Corps of Engineers failed efforts to restore our coast. Our tax dollars are being eroded while our coastline is still not restored.

Mary and Bill are fighting to take credit for the same tax-payer funded bill to give even more money to failed big government programs.

Rob will explore real free-market solutions to turn back coastal erosion. Rob will not support bloated federal programs that waste our tax-dollars on programs that don't work.
Flood Insurance (NFIP) Mary continues to push the National Flood Insurance program indefinitely. The NFIP is billions of dollars in the red with no real solutions in sight to fix this failing program. Mary and Bill are fighting to take credit for identical flood insurance legislation. Bill continues to push the National Flood Insurance program indefinitely. The NFIP is billions of dollars in the red with no real solutions in sight to fix this failing program. Mary and Bill are fighting to take credit for identical flood insurance legislation. As Senator, Rob will explore real free market solutions to bring insurers back into coastal areas while protecting existing homeowners subjected to the ever-changing FEMA guidelines.
Benghazi Cover up Silent on the Benghazi Massacre cover up. Bill has not signed the Stockman Discharge Petition to force a floor vote on House Res. 36 to form a Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi Massacre. Rob supports and has encouraged Bill Cassidy to sign the Stockman discharge petition to force a floor vote on House Res. 36 to form a Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi Massacre.
Hate Crimes Voted for Hate Crimes legislation.  Voted for Hate Crimes legislation. Rob is firmly against the Hate Crime Law.

Every decent human being is against violence especially if motivated by race, religion or sexual preference, but violent attacks upon people or property are already illegal.

With "hate crime" laws, people are essentially given one penalty for their violent actions and an additional one for the politically incorrect thoughts that allegedly motivated those actions.

Thoughts must never be crimes.

According to FRC, "in some jurisdictions that have adopted these laws, "hate crimes" have been defined to include not just violent physical acts, but merely verbal ones as well, using terms like "hate speech," "intimidation," and even verbal "assault."
Syria "I will carefully examine the facts in the coming days." "I'm attending a classified briefing this morning regarding Syria & look forward to discussing this issue with you at my town hall in Gray on 9/4.

He told the people in the Terrebonne Parish town hall he doesn't know where he stands and won't until, "I get to the bottom of the issue."
"These political class types discuss these matters as if they will be sending robots into battle, instead of America's sons and daughters.  I, for one, didn't spend 32 years of my life protecting our freedoms to stand idly by and watch as they try to send my sons into a war that lacks both justification and reason.  Call your Congressman and tell them your thoughts.  Mine will be to vote no."
Supporting Mary Landrieu Supports Mary Landrieu Supported his opponent in a past US Senate race by donating $500 to Landrieu.  Cassidy also contributed $23K to Louisiana Democrats in various state legislative campaigns including a $1000 donation to Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to help defeat Bobby Jindal. Does not support Mary Landrieu.
Federal Highway Program Voted to force taxpayers to bail out federal highway program. Voted to force taxpayers to bail out federal highway program. Taxpayers should not have to bail out the federal highway program.
Export/Import Bank Voted to expand corporate welfare through the Export-Import Bank. Voted to expand corporate welfare through the Export-Import Bank. Is opposed to ANY expansion of more corporate welfare.
Farm Subsidies Voted to give farm subsidies to people with incomes over $250K a year. Voted to give farm subsidies to people with incomes over $250K a year.  This year Cassidy voted for the farm bill containing SNAP provisions.  He then voted for the second farm bill minus the SNAP program or any suggested reforms. We must separate the farm bill from the SNAP program and establish free market reforms to the maximum extent possible.  Reforms need to be  implemented on the remaining farm subsidy programs.

No one earning more than $250K a year should receive farm subsidies.
