Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

Last year, April 18 was Tax Freedom Day, the day when Americans have earned enough money to pay their tax bill for the year. This year, Tax Freedom Day is April 21, three days later. When it takes longer for Americans to begin earning money for themselves, we're headed in the wrong direction: less money is in the private sector where jobs that improve the quality of our lives are created.

Maness Criticizes Landrieu for Acting the Part

"Senator Landrieu has no shame," Maness said. "She believes as most politicians do, that they can fool the people. They routinely do one thing at home and vote another way in Washington. But to take it this far and actually bring in actors and actresses for a campaign ad is over the top, even for her." Maness said that Landrieu's portrayal of herself as an indignant rebel against the Obama Administration is a caricature.

Rob and I get to go out for dinner tonight, just the two of us. It was not too long ago that we expected these opportunities to be more frequent. You see, Rob served more than 30 years in the Air Force including a number of deployments to war theaters overseas. But when he retired and took a job in the private sector we imagined our days would be more relaxed, with evenings and weekends spent visiting our grandchildren or at cookouts with friends.
